A bright bedroom with a ceiling fan, a white bed and a window with trees outside.
A closed bedroom that never dries out can turn musty even with no leak.

Questions worth asking before you hire a mold company

A good company answers these easily. They also help you compare more than one estimate on the same terms.

01

Where is the water coming from?

Ask them to show you the source, not just the mold. Cleaning without fixing the water is the most common reason it returns.

02

What comes out, and what gets cleaned?

Find out which materials are removed, which are cleaned in place and who replaces what comes out.

03

How will you keep it from spreading?

Ask about plastic barriers, filtered air and how they protect the rest of the house while they work.

04

Do I need a test?

Often not. If a company pushes a test when mold is plainly visible, ask why.

05

How will I know it worked?

Ask for a moisture reading after the work and a written summary of what was done.

06

Why the rush?

Mold should be dealt with, but it does not have to be settled today. Be wary of fear language and pressure to sign on the spot.
